Midas Productions will provide the power to Jockey Club Live events at six racecourses across the country this summer. Headline acts include Kylie Minogue, who plays two shows, one at the 20,000 capacity Newmarket and 18,000 capacity Haydock Park in June, and Kaiser Chiefs, at the same venues followed by Sandown Park in August, among other acts.
The contract, with Symphotech, which manages production for the series, is a significant win for the company and a true testament to the Midas method that has answered biodiesel critics over the years with unremitting innovation and performance.
Julian Spear, Founding Director at Symphotech, comments: “You’ve got to have specialist event power in the hands people who are competent, capable of understanding the factors and balancing loads, and Midas has it all. It’s competitive, any minor changes aren’t a problem, which is crucial, and its team is really cooperative in keeping running times to a minimum. As fuel costs start creeping up again, that’s important too.”
Live music after racing has proved a success for more than 25 years, providing significant revenues for the sport. Beyond the stage and the production, The Jockey Club’s racecourses have an existing infrastructure, more than £250m has been invested on facilities in the last 10 years, and headline artists are seeing racecourses as reputable music venues. The Kylie dates in particular were a real coup for the promoter and sold out in hours.
Diesel Generator Hire Newmarket specialist Midas, Managing Director, David Noble, said: “Taking the reins for Jockey Club Live is a real acknowledgement of just how far this company has come in 15 years. It’s a pleasure to be involved and we’re really looking forward to working with Symphotech to put our plans into action.”
