Diesel Generator Hire
When you need power on site, the last thing you want is a hiring process that wastes your time or a machine that lets you down.
At Midas, generator hire is what we do. It has been since we started in Ipswich in 2000, and we have spent the past 25 years building a fleet and a service that gives our customers exactly what they asked for, the right machine, on site when they need it, running reliably for as long as they need it.
We are independently owned and operated. There is no call centre, no account management layer, no national network of depots you never visit. When you call Midas, you speak to the people who run the fleet, maintain the machines and deliver them to your site.
That direct relationship is why our clients come back.

How Generator Hire Works With Midas
We do not operate on a collect-and-go basis. Every hire begins with a conversation about what you actually need.
Tell us about your site, your load requirements and how long you need power for, we will specify the right machine for the job at hand.
Hire Durations
We hire generators on a daily, weekly and long-term contract basis. There is no minimum hire period and no penalty for early return. For long-term agricultural, industrial or infrastructure hires, we offer fixed-price contracts with scheduled servicing included.
- Free specification - we calculate load requirements and cable run resistance to ensure the generator is correctly sized for your application
- Site audit where needed - for complex or access-restricted sites, we visit before delivery
- Delivery on our own fleet - HGV and 4x4 vehicles, HIAB crane capability for difficult placements
- Remote monitoring included - every machine on our fleet runs JCB Livelink or DSEWebNet telematics, giving real-time data on load, fuel and engine parameters
- Fuel management available - scheduled top-ups and consumption monitoring so your site never runs dry
- 24/7 support - if something goes wrong, you can reach the Midas team at any time
Stage V Generators
For contracts requiring NRMM (Non Road Mobile Machinery) emission compliance, we have Stage V machines available from 13kVA to 150kVA.
Stage V generators meet the latest EU and UK particulate emission standards and are the correct choice for government contracts, certain urban construction sites, and any procurement that specifies emission compliance.
If you are not sure whether Stage V applies to your project, speak to us; we will give you a straight answer.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know what size generator I need?
We work this out with you. The key factors are your total connected load. Once we understand what you want to energise, we can determine the diversity in electrical demand.
Simply put, this means we understand not all of your appliances will be drawing power at the same time. This enables us to correctly size the generator and electrical distribution system. In many instances, reducing the generator’s size provides cost benefits for the client by reducing hire and fuel charges.
Can I hire a generator for just one day?
Yes. We hire for a single day upwards. Speak to us about availability, and we will confirm a delivery slot.
Do I need planning permission or a noise permit for a generator?
This depends on your location, the duration of the hire, the machine specification, and the intended application. Our generators are among the quietest available and are suitable for most sites without special permissions. If you are in a noise-sensitive area, speak to us; we can advise on the right machine and acoustic options.
Is fuel included in the hire price?
Generators are supplied with fuel in the tank to cover initial operation. Ongoing fuel supply and top-ups are available as part of our fuel management service. We can quote this alongside the hire if required. The fuel supplied and used during a hire is chargeable on completion of the hire.
What happens if the generator develops a fault?
All Midas hire machines are monitored remotely. Our team is notified of any fault alerts immediately.
We offer 24/7 support and will dispatch an engineer or replacement machine as required.
