Festival UpdateSummer wouldn’t be summer without festivals and the following is a snap shot of those that we worked on during the month of July
From its conception in 2007 Midas are proud to have worked with Mark and the chaps providing carbon neutral power generation and site wide mains and distribution in the heart of the Cotswolds. 2000trees is all about achieving a friendly and intimate festival experience, with tickets strictly limited to 2,500 featuring three stages with over 50 bands and DJs.
Justifiably proud of its environmental credentials with a comprehensive on site recycling and compost scheme, biodegradable (corn starch) containers for all food and drink on site selling where possible only locally produced, organic food and drink. This year saw a partnership with the University of Aston, which incorporated a number of on site renewable energy demonstrations, including solar panels, a wind turbine and even pedal powered chargers for mobile phones.
A great gig to be involved with, and already looking forward to 2010!!!
Shoreditch Festival 2009, produced by Shoreditch Trust, is an annual highlight of the East London cultural calendar and part of CREATE 09 – a celebration of art, culture, festivals and performance in the five host boroughs for the 2012 Olympic and Paraolympic Games.
This year’s weekend programme of cultural activities, events and performances were completely free for all ages and took place in the newly renovated Shoreditch Park.
Highlights include World in Motion Day – a large scale creative collaboration between Shoreditch Trust, the Barbican Centre and Guildhall School, the return of the Shoreditch Festival Parade, an eclectic musical line up of amazing acts on the main stage, Around the Word in Shoreditch literature tent, Proms in Shoreditch Park with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and a spectacular firework finale. In our second year with the Trust Midas were delighted to provide power generation and distribution solutions across the entire festival.
The north of Britain is much loved and familiar territory for us at Midas, but it was our first year with Limetree and only the second year for the festival itself. The Limetree Festival is a 3 day music & arts festival set amongst the beautiful surroundings of Limetree Farm nature reserve at Grewelthorpe near Ripon. Again Midas provided power generation and all distribution solutions across the festival site thoroughly enjoying the relaxed and chilled atmosphere.
Well done Sean, it was good, and we look forward to doing it all again next year!!
