LUMIERE was a four-day festival that brightened the historic city of Durham, bringing a sprinkle of winter magic to the North East. More than 50 artists created a breathtaking series of installations, illuminations and performances using light. An estimated 72,000 people attended the event over the four days to witness Durham’s stunning buildings, streets and river banks transformed into a winter wonderland.
Midas supplied all generators, mains cabling and distribution, project managed by Midas director Andy Dann who commented working in a cityscape such as Durham presented its own unique set of challenges, from a UNESCO world heritage site in the form of Durham Cathedral to a vibrant busy town centre, surrounded on three sides by the fast flowing river Wear certainly kept me and my trusty team of five on our toes.
