In the business since 2003, Ipswich Arts Festival is a summer celebration of the town through live music, film, theatre, comedy, literature and dance.

The festival takes place from June 20 to July 13, across four weekends. It starts with a town centre gala and culminates in a global music day in Christchurch Park. There are 60-plus other events between time, at 20 different venues, from temporary structures to clubs, across Ipswich.

It’s not too exclusive or East of England” organiser, James Young, says. “On top of everything else, McBusted, Jimmy Cliff and Scouting For Girls are playing this year, and it attracts people from all over the world.”

A local festival for Midas, directors David Noble and Andy Dann worked at its precursor, Ipswich Music Day, before turning on to diesel power generators and playing a telling part at each edition since.
