December saw Enchanted Places (EPL)’s inaugural event, A Christmas Wish, weave video projections, a smoking wishing well, magical lighting and host of art installations around Southover Grange Gardens in Lewes, East Sussex.
Funded by EPL’s four directors, Robin Morley, Ross Ashton, Karen Monid and Matt Hammerton, in close collaboration with the local authority, the project was powered by Midas Productions and sold thousands of tickets across Sussex and the South East.
“The Midas quality of service and understanding of outdoor events sits alongside its commitment to biodiesel, which is a core part of containing our environmental footprint,” Morley says. “Midas is part of the team on site, with great ideas and plenty of its own cable to meet the distribution requirements!”
Feedback from the first Christmas Wish has been particularly positive and EPL is keen to develop the concept in Lewes and take it to other locations around the country as well.
“We have worked very hard to create an event which offers people a different experience to the traditional Christmas mix of ice rinks, pantomimes and Santa’s Grottos,” Morley explains. “A Christmas Wish brings together video and sound work from internationally acclaimed artists, beautiful lighting and illumination, outdoor theatre, sculpture and artworks. It’s something very festive but very different.”
